Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining adequate inventory and storage of viable pathology lab supplies
- Perform the grossing, processing, embedding, and cutting of all surgical tissue specimens to prepare and label cassettes and slides, perform routine H&E and immunohistochemical (IHC) staining, and coverslipping of slides as described in the Pathology Lab Procedure Manual
- Assist Lead HT with making control slides
- Maintain all pathology laboratory equipment including proper reagent fluid levels, perform preventative maintenance (PM) according to lab’s procedures/protocols and date. Document and date details of all equipment problems and inform Lead HT of such. Coordinate with Lead HT and Lab Supervisor to schedule service if needed. Maintain records of all service reports to include PM, on-site service repairs, off-site technical support, and written communication in the equipment manual
- Maintain proper documentation for quality control and quality assurance including for stained & IHC slides, logs for temperature, humidity, pH, air vapor monitoring, grossing worksheets and the data entry of grossing information in LIS, etc.
- Assist in preparing QA reports per Lead HT
- Submit any recommendations or requests for changes concerning laboratory testing and technical procedures to the Lead HT, Lab Supervisor, and Lab Director for approval. Submit all non-technical administrative recommendations to the Lab Supervisor
- Be knowledgeable of current CLIA regulations and participate in policy and procedure review and revisions per CLIA and/or CAP regulations and participate in preparations for CLIA inspections

We are seeking an experienced Medical Lab Technician/Clinical Laboratory Scientist to work in a large specialty group’s Clinical Lab. This position consists of day shift hours, Monday – Friday, to include flexible weekend hours for microbiology (rotating). This position is flexible from 24 - 30+ hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform microbiology tests for urine cultures, utilizing both manual and automated methods, as appropriate by CLSI standards. Successful candidate must meet CLIA high complexity testing personnel requirements
- Perform chemistry/immunoassay lab tests utilizing Roche e411 analyzer
- Perform quality control procedures as outlined by lab procedures, with troubleshooting and resolution of outliers, as needed
- Participate in the performance of proficiency testing on all applicable lab tests
- Maintain proper documentation as described in the quality assurance program, to include equipment records, maintenance logs, e-worksheets, specimen rejection documentation and quality control logs
- Utilize and maintain specimen logs, worksheets, and laboratory reports in Orchard lab information system (LIS)
- Manage patient lab results, providing accurate final reports to the ordering provider in a timely manner
- Provide lab support to medical staff as needed, regarding specimen collection requirements, testing procedures, training, and other issues as needed
- Accession and process lab specimens as outlined in lab procedures
- Use Epic EMR for communication with providers and staff regarding lab results, specimen rejection, provider orders, etc.

Job Overview
We are seeking an APP to provide hospital-based support at our south Hampton Roads hospitals. Responsibilities include rounding on inpatients, seeing inpatient/emergency room consults, and performing procedures such as cystoscopy for difficult catheter placement, hematuria irrigation, priapism management and more. This is a daytime only position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a high degree of general medical and urological knowledge and exercise independent judgment as appropriate
- Assess the patient’s medical condition by completion of a urological examination
- Document appropriately and communicate with the appropriate physician in a timely manner as required, including, but not limited to: evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, treatment notes, and other reports as requested
- Order and evaluate laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests

We are looking for a skilled Surgery Scheduler to join our team, responsible for efficiently coordinating surgical procedures, from scheduling surgery dates with hospitals to ensure all necessary pre-operative requirements are met. This role involves proactive communication with patients, collaboration with the Benefit/Auth Team, and meticulous documentation in electronic medical records, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining accurate schedules and providing excellent patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Phones:
- Answers telephone within 3 rings in a courteous and friendly manner, directing the caller to the appropriate person or completing the request made by the caller
- Checks individual and group voicemail boxes hourly
- Returns calls on the same day
- Leaves no voice messages in the mailbox at the end of the day
Coordinates Surgery:
- Schedule surgery date with the hospital
- Update Qgenda with the surgery
- Work with the Benefit/Auth Team to inform patients of surgical estimates, deposits and obtain insurance authorizations
- Makes sure H&Ps, labs, cultures, diagnostic testing and medical clearances are obtained and up to date and that the results are available for review prior to the surgery date
- Ensure timely scanning of pre-op orders, consents, etc. into the patient EMR.
- Schedule pre-op office visit per physician protocols
- Schedule post-op office appointment
- Call patients 7 days in advance of their surgery to confirm surgery date/time and verify that they have not taken blood thinners
Other:
- Assist patients with signing of consents, explaining orders and any other patient instructions at the time of the hospital work-up visit
- Informs manager and physician of any potential scheduling conflicts or patient complaints/concerns
- Weekly verify surgery in Office Tracker with the hospital scheduling offices to maximize provider’s surgery time
- Notify the Administrative Manager if a surgery has been cancelled and a provider is able to work back into the office
- Admits patient directly to the hospital when needed
- Submit FMLA, disability, work notes and other papers for patients when needed.
- Greet patients in a professional and courteous manner
- Utilizes electronic medical records for documentation and charting all patient information to include but not limited to phone encounters, appointment scheduling, lab results, provider orders, etc

We are seeking a professional and experienced Clinical Assistant who will perform a variety of clinical tasks for a physician, as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that exam rooms are prepped, cleaned, and stocked in preparation for patients and between patients as required. Preps patient charts as required for appointments.
- Preps patients for any in office procedures and assists providers as necessary with exams, treatments and testing. As well as, performs necessary procedures as required (phlebotomy, bladder scans, catheter changes, etc.)
- Collect and properly label all necessary lab specimens to include but not limited to blood, urine, and biopsy tissue
- Perform CLIA waved laboratory testing, strictly adhering to the policies and guidelines established by UVA and the practice
- Effectively uses necessary PPE as appropriate and abides by safe handling and disposal protocols of medical equipment and materials
- Provide patient education and training as needed to include by not limited to self- catheterization, bladder irrigations, pre-op instructions and post-op care
- Utilizes electronic medical records for documentation and charting all patient information to include but not limited to phone encounters, appointment scheduling, lab results, provider orders, etc.
- Cover phones for patient triage for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and other duties related to aiding in patient care and treatment, by answering, documenting, and routing when appropriate all incoming patient calls
- Obtains authorizations and pre-certifications for clinical treatments, exams, diagnostic testing, and prescriptions as required per the patient’s health plan

This successful clinic allows a ‘same day/next day’ appointments model for patients with urgent urological conditions. Most common diagnoses are: kidney stones, hematuria, infection, urinary retention, etc. The Physicians Assistant will decide upon intervention and follow up needs in collaboration with the supporting physicians. Involvement in procedural care is available and encouraged.

Our APPs manage all aspects of urologic oncology including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, renal cancer, etc. APPs will manage cancer patients, with physician support, through diagnosis and discussion of treatment options, interpretation of ongoing labs and imaging, and management of cancer medications and related adverse events. We have a strong research program with 20+ clinical trials with APPs actively enrolling and monitoring patients.
