A recently published study found that vitamin D deficiency is common among men with ED, and is more common among those with arteriogenic etiology.
Forty-six percent of study participants were vitamin D deficient (<20 ng/mL). Men with severe/complete ED had significantly lower vitamin D levels than men with mild ED, and arteriogenic ED was more frequent among men who were vitamin D deficient.
The authors concluded that low vitamin D levels might increase ED risk by promoting endothelial dysfunction. They recommend that men with ED have their vitamin D levels checked, and suggest vitamin D supplementation for those who are low.
